Where do ya suppose he plans on living when you buy a new house?...Yeah that's what I was thinkin also!

Dou you think throwing him out is gonna be pleasant?...My thought's exactly!

I think me and my girl would move to an efficiancy without an extra bedroom and solve both of the above problems in the same stroke, surly you can come up with a reason to move that seams logical

Either you think he is a cash cow or there are other(maybe harder) ways to save the money required.

as for the cash dispute, have him document what ya owe him and pay up or it is only gonna get worse if ya stay there.

I hope I didn't offend ya not my intention at all, just what I would do.

He aint coming with us when we move...and he knows it. It simply isn't an option and he's driven me up the wall enough I don't really care where he goes-so long as its not with us. I'm not offended at all but at the same time I don't think he's a cash cow-just that his estimate is about as reliable as an edsel and therefore I'm reluctant to pay it to say the least. Would you pay something without proper documentation? I know he hasn't got all of it.
We would have saved the money anyway-we've only been saving 4 months...

I can see the problem with the cash estimate that is why I would have him DOCUMENT what ya owe him after or the day of the move. Surly it won't be pleasant but at least ya won't be confined in the same place as him for the fallout.

Besides this way your not "throwing him out on his ***" he can stay where he is after you leave if he wants to.

Document: canceled checks, reciept's or even good faith memory if you have an idea as to weather you or him paid it.

I don't think he has anything like that at all. He can't stay here by himself anyway. I paid the deposit and advance rent on this place and it's coming with me. I guess I could leave the deposit and advance rent as settlement...that's close to £1000. A conservative estimate maybe, but he's done that much damage round here too with his various DIY attempts.

Thanks Neumanns-you've got my brain out of "kill mode" and working on solutions!

How do you not make it above private after 12 years? How is that even possible? They must have felt bad too and waited 12 years to send him on his way... wouldn't you just love to read his army reviews? ROFLMAO!!!!

lets just say that I've met corpses with more initiative (and life) than this guy. This isn't a joke now BTW-he tried to pull a hooker last year and she said no...and she was knocking on 50 herself...

LOL he's almost bad enough that that'd work too.

Nearly threw him out bodily after the last post. He overfilled a pan of fat and nearly torched the kitchen. I turned it off and shouted at him before it could catch fire.
Maybe he's the final proof of Darwin's theory?

Pay him what you owe him and then politely ask him to leave. You dont have to list all the reasons why, You hold the lease or rental agreement, just kindly explain that as a couple you want some time by yourselves.

After he has gone clean up and get another person to share (with a written agreement this time).

Nothing is going to change unless you change it.

Good luck.

Keep him around for comedy relief, keep the stories coming.

Or better yet, start you own online reality series documenting his life. It should be a hit.

Ken

KIZ's idea is appealing. However I must agree with Grant S... this situation is somewhat self-inflicted. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, it must be so hard to turf out a "friend", but if you can't live with him you have no real choice.

LOL well I think this weekend might be devoid of stories-he appears to have gone away for a couple of days. I don't see him as any kind of "friend" anymore but putting up with him at the moment is advancing our saving up to get away from him by the equivalent of $500 a month so it looks like he'll have to stay put for a short period at least. I guess we're forced to put up with a couple of months more of it.(not like we really have a choice)

To be honest I was really looking for a way to get it through to him that his behaviour was unacceptable but obviously almost everyone else thinks the same way I do (thats quite scary!)

There's now a big sign on the toilet door saying "shut the F***** door" and the supersoaker is residing in a direct line of sight with it...

Just get another roomie and let them "drive him off". That way, you aren't the bad guy and maybe a 3rd party can point out exactly how clueless he really is :)
Sounds like a darwin candidate to me...

Nav

Ain't room for anyoe else here unfortunately-and I doubt he'd go anyway.

Came close to blows yesterday- He threw the whole contents of a shopping bag in the bin because there was an empty muffin box sat in the top...

Too bad you need the money. Otherwise, when he's gone to work you could change the locks, and put out a sign that reads something like"We moved to Brazil" (sorry about that, Brazil) He'll never find you again. Seriously, I guess just talking to him doesn't do any good and that hot oil issue scares me. I think for your personal safty your going to have to write out a do and don't list for this "guest". No good deed goes unpunished(letting him live with you). Good luck!
