I have my bayliner sold and want somthing that cuts the water smoother. By means of not riding like a block of wood. Would a 99' regal 21' LSC hull design ride better than the bayliner in my signature? I know its only 1' bigger.

Yeah by about 10X. The Regal has a great hull, and also a much heavier boat.

I really want a 23' wellcraft eclipse as I have persoanlly driven my friends, but other suggest a differnt hull is all I need. I do not need big, I need a softer ride that will not hurt my spine.......

if you want a softer ride...look for a deeper v.

as you have allready owned a boat....i suggest you attend a dealer open house...and test drive several different brands.....each will feel different.....
weight, shape, beam....it all comes into play and each brand and size is different.

regal is exactally that......a regal boat....very nice finish....but im ripping apart a 3060 right now and i dont like the quality if hull laminate...and the fixtures of the boat.

shop around

Regal build quality is night and day different from Bayliner. Also, the stepped LSC hulls are real sexy. But I can't comment on rough water comfort of them as I haven't been on one. Look at the deadrise figures for both. The higher the deadrise, the smoother it will be in rough water (but the less stable it will be at a standstill - everything is a compromise).

I owned a 2100LSR, the bowrider version of the LSC you are looking at. They have a deep-V with 24 degrees of deadrise, but are fairly light for their size. I'm guessing there might not be a huge difference between the Regal and the Bayliner.

Build quality on the Regal of that vintage is OK to slightly better than average. Being a 99, I'm guessing it has a carpeted cockpit. I having owned two boats with carpet cockpits and one with a full fiberglass-lined cockpit (my current Regal 2550LSC), I would never own another boat with a carpeted cockpit.

Keep an eye out for a Sea Ray 215 Weekender of the same vintage. They are superior to the 2150LSC, IMO. They ride nicely too.

Why would you not own a carpeted cockpit?

Retains dirt and moisture. Hard to clean, and I don't like the idea of keeping anything damp lying against the deck. The snap-in cockpit carpet that came with my '99 Chris*Craft, went right up into the garage loft for storage. I only brought it back down the other day 'cause I'm selling the boat.

JoLin summed it up nicely. Additionally, my boat has a self-bailing cockpit and a washdown too, so it's really easy to clean up.
