how bad to be a hook in boat

boat had a 1/4" distortion about 36" in from the transom in a spot 6" long would that be a hook that you guys spoke of that could be driving my boat of to each side.

Most all boats have a hook right at the transom. A 1/4" is about as much as you'll see nowadays. That helps the boat get on plane. It should be less right at the keel and progressing as you check out toward the lifting strakes and/or chine. Other than right at the back the hull should be relatively straight at least 6 to 8 feet forward.
