How best to remove old gaskets

Hi
Im replacing the thermostat on the evinrude 115, managed to get the thing off but am struggling with removing the old gasket ...................any good ides anyone?

Putty knife, scraper blade, pocket knife, razor blade, wire brush...just try not to scratch or damage the metal surfaces. Spray old gasket with carb cleaner to soften it and loosen it up. Just take your time and do it right!...it'll come off! Good Luck!:)

Try your local parts house as they should have a gasket remover in a spray can that will turn the gasket to mush and it's eaisier to remove.

i agree with all of the above, but i would stuff rags into the openings if using gasket remover, just to keep from getting into the cooling system.
