Sounds like an Outboard Question, Pedro.

If you can get the boat on the trailer you can usually manually lift the engine and put a brace of some sort under it to hold it up while you tow it home.

Tell us what engine you have.

Moving to Outboard Forum.

Good luck. :)

There should be a relief screw to release the pressure of the hydraulic pressure, Turn it three turns counter-clockwise to free the hydraulic pressure, and clockwise to maintain the pressure once you achieve the position you want.

This engine is weird. It's a force 120 but it is inboard. I have a 1991 maxum 2100SR. All I know is it is a "L" drive. This is my first boat so please bear with me. I purchased it about a month ago. I'll try the pressure relief. Once i get the engine up I'll tie it with rope to hold in place also. Thanks for the fast response.

Pedro, according to my Clymers repair manual, there is no manual release valve on your tilt and trim unit.

You may actually have to remove some hydrolic lines to release the pressure. Be careful, wear safety goggles.

After you get it raised, place a 2x4 between the motor and the boat. Tie the board in place and then tie the motor down to maintain pressure on it so it doesn't bounce.

You could always remove the bolt for the lift cylinder. Carry a piece of wood with you to put inbetween the leg and the transom bracket.

You can get a Clymers shop manual right here on iboats. Look in the lower lefthand corner of this page and click on "Repair Manuals".

c/6

Hooty
