Hello all, I just rebuilt a nissan 8 hp lower unit and ive found that the lower unit oil tan in color and lowered viscosity,after 4 hours of run time,is there away to tell conclusively if theres salt water in lower unit oil?
Let it sit overnight. Remove the drain screw and water will come out first if it is present. If present you will need to pressure and vacuum test the lower unit to find the leak.
