How can you tell if you have a spun hub?

I have 1984 15hp Evinrude outboard. I was fishing the other day and suddenly it got a bit choppy on the lake and I ended up on a sandbar and the motor / propeller stalled and I immediately killed the motor. After I got off the sandbar, it started up fine and seems to be running fine. I didn't experience any unusual issues with the motor for the rest of the fishing trip and I traveled about 12miles. Is there something I should be monitoring (other than sandbars ), the next time I take the motor out.

If you have a spun hub you will get drive at low speed but when you increase the power the motor will rev but the boat will go no faster.

You can check by putting a mark with a water proof marker pen across the prop and the end of the shaft. If the mark on the shaft does not line up with the mark on the prop after a run it's spun.

I sorry I didn't make my self clear at the end of the message. How can tell if I have or start to have a spun prop the next time I take the motor out? Oh what is the part that wears out or gets damage with a spun prop and is it hard to repair?
