how come i cant find any info from my serial number

does anyone know why i cant find any info on my late 80 mercury classic fifty motor, the serial number on my motor isnt even an option when i try to find parts for it, the starter on the motor says 1987 so its 87 or newer, the number is

ob305957, its on the tag on the mounting bracket, anyone have any ideas? i want to order a new impellor..

mercs are like that. you can go to napa, they have a marine book that will have a serial number group. usually merc impellers are the same.they can look up the motor by the horse power and how many cyl., For instance, an 80 h.p-4cyl.-115 h.p. 6cyl. have the exact same impeller. The year range on this example is 1960,s-1980,s. I hope this helps.
