Let's hear about it!

I spent mine on the lake until it got so crowded I couldn't stand being pushed all around from other boats.

Everything went great though! Weather couldn't have been any better!

Thanks to all who have served to make this possible.

All gave some, some gave all.

Re: How did you spend your memorial day?

Spent Saturday on the lake with sister and brother n law and two nephews fought wind and crowds but had a great time till the boat wouldn't start. Did get it going but decided to call it a day. Spent Sunday on the lake with my mother and her boyfriend had a great time fought wind and crowds and decided to call it a day and the boyfriend wrecked my truck and damaged my trailer trying to get to the ramp. Wanted to go Monday but the wind was still stiff so decided enough was enough and washed the boat instead.

Drove to the marina yesterday but black storm clouds pretty much called it quites. Today was absolutely perfect! warm, in the 80's with a nice southern breeze, beached at a popular beach and drank a few, played find 18 million shells with my 6 year old daughter, my son and wife spent most of the time in the cuddy, reading.....really, but she wasn't feeling too good (she still needs to get her sea stomach, lol) then went tubing for a bit. It was just about a perfect day, AND saw a poor guy with about 10 people on his boat try to dock it over and over and over. I couldn't stand it any more so I offered my help backing in his trailer but "they have it under control" LOL. We were docked, loaded and everything tied down before he was even at the dock.

Spent Friday through Tuesday morning working 48 hours. I guess if patients can't enjoy their Memorial Day weekend, neither can I. Most I got to do was call to say Happy Birthday to my grandpa.

Re: How did you spend your memorial day?

I worked 12 hour days Saturday and Monday. Way too crowded for me to be on the lakes anyways.....too many people with no clue what they are doing. I prefer to boat during the week on my off days when I have the lake to myself.

Went to the Indianapolis 500 for the first time and sat 20ft past the finish line 6 rows up. Definitely different than cruising the lake like on Memorial Day's past, but 226mph rockets going by you during a 3-day party sure makes up for it!

Came down with Strep Throat on Thursday night. Finally felt better late in the day Sunday. Weather in Central Florida was crappy due to TS Beryl, so we thought we'd try it on Monday. Saw a break in the feeder bands on Monday afternoon, only to get caught in a torrential downpour. Kids were crying, everyone soaked. All in all, horrible weekend. :)

Spent Memorial Day BBQing and drinking beer by the pool with friends and family. I usually do not take the boat out Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day -- too crowded for me.

Plopped in for a ride on the lake Saturday to see if I had fixed a couple of things - and to swim for a while (100? this weekend). Lake was CRAZY, so we bagged any other trips out.

Other than that LOTs and LOTs of yard work and dinner and water balloons (shooting at the kids with one of those big sling shots) with some friends yesterday. Good times.

Re: How did you spend your memorial day?

I skipped out of work at 3 on Friday evening and took the kids knee boarding. Went out Sunday with record heat. 97 degrees by mid afternoon. I never saw it so crowded. I usually dont do the holiday for boating but couldnt resist and we had another great day with no problems. Our marinas ramp must have had a two hour wait to get on the water (glad I have a slip) Cars were backed up out of the marina about 25 deep. The line backed up traffic on the street! Didnt see alot of crazy stuff. Marina guy was yelling at someone becasue I think they put a boat in the water for the first time without running on muffs first. There was so much smoke from the fogging oil being burned off that people were getting PO'd. At least I assumed it was fogging oil because it stopped. Marina guy was hot! But he got his boat out and took off.

Hit the lake on Sunday with the family and it didn't get busy until later which was nice. The water was bonechillingly cold when we jumped off the boat. It was a whole other level of cold. Memorial day, I spent fixing the lawnmower, detailing my car, doing home improvement stuff, and went to the gym.

Re: How did you spend your memorial day?

We didn't do anything until Monday. Wife had to work. Monday morning we decided to take the jon boat and go fishing on the Elk River. Got about half way there and something didn't feel right. Pulled over and found the inside wheel bearing on the right side of the trailer had disintegrated. Lovely. Wife was not happy, and asked me what I was going to do about it. Pulled boat off trailer, slid it in the truck and left the trailer beside the interstate. Brought the boat home, dropped it in the yard and went back for the trailer. We spun it around and lifted the rear of the trailer into the bed of the truck, slid it all the way forward, put the tailgate up, strapped 'er down and away we went. The toungue on the trailer was sticking out about 7' past the truck, but ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do. I had my mind made up if I was stopped by a LEO, I was going to tell him the trailer was tired of carrying stuff and wanted to be pampered for a while. Got it home, dropped it off the truck, toungue went through our wooden fence. All we could do was laugh.

Decided we would stick boat back in the truck and go fishing anyways. Had a good time, caught about 10 bass and called it a day.

Re: How did you spend your memorial day?

Spent Sunday on Lake Blackshear with about 300 other boats. The wind preceding TS Beryl combined with the wakes from the other boats made it ROUGH ROUGH ROUGH. As the boats started clearing out in the late afternoon, my wife and I were able to enjoy a nice sunset on the water and a night time cruise before we headed in to dock for the night. Woke up yesterday morning expecting rain but only had cloudy skies and windy conditions. Took the boat out for an hour, only to decide around 11AM that we better call it a day before the bad weather hit. Not sure if the rain and storms bands ever reached the lake or not, but figured I'd rather cut the boating short to be safe just in case. Overall a good weekend. Staying at Veteran's State Park, I was reminded of why we celebrate Memorial Day. The fountain outside the lodge was engraved with "IN HONOR OF ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED". I said a silent prayer and a humble thank you to those who've paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep me and my family safe. God bless them all.

This isn't a photo I took...but it's of the fountain at the lodge. Definitely made me reflect on those who have given all.
