2ndtry, the only thing you can be sure of, is that ALL of those kids will have some great memories.

I still remember that smell, flipping over rocks in low tide, looking for hellgrammites for bait for my uncle's boat. Good times.

Pinned to a bench press bench. Yep, when the younger crowd (30ish) left the weight thing and went to the BBQ, I thought to try and see if I still had it. Lot's of side chuckles when the rescue team came to free me.:D

LOL I did that once but without the rescue crew ending.
"Slide 350 on there and let's see if I can still do it". Got it down to my chest and had to have a plate taken off each side. Got it up and paid for it the next day. Chest felt like it did the day after I was set on fire.

Well, not quite that bad but still....

Re: How did you spend your memorial day?

I got suckered into inviting 6 (5+ my son) 17 year old boys out. I drove the boat, tended the ropes, put down the ladder, pulled up the ladder, got out the skis, put away the skis, got out the wakeboard, put away the wakeboard, got out the kneeboard, put away the kneeboard, blew up the tubes, etc... I did get TWO thank you's at the end of the day.

Oh yeah, the lake was crazy. Thanks for asking.

that's good of you to do that, and important for them. I think, though, I'd put on the captain's hat and make them do stuff. They'll thank you. I took my 22 yo nephew out fishing and made him do everything (showed him once) such as baiting and getting the fish off and he later told his mom how great that was; his dad does all that not to spoil him but to be sure it's done right--and they do really cool stuff like big game bow hunting. Better for him that he lose a fish than me boat it for him.

I seriously could not tell. Is that the bait? Or the catch?

If it's the bait, that is the most realistic lure I've ever seen. If not, I hope your state limit is based on poundage, not fish numbers!

BTW, I love your sig quote........... I just stole it, which by definition is cool, right?

"Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of anyone that threatens it."

Nope this was the catch...sadly...."its not the size of the fish you catch it the time you waste doing it"
This was on the North Chain Lakes, north of Coldwater MI.

you're more than welcome to use the sig.

BBQing on land, which was okay because river was packed. Luckily, I can get out during the week.

Re: How did you spend your memorial day?

Saturday fished my heart out in the small creeks lining the river. about noon I heard the buzz of the boat misquitos (i.e. jet skis) fished till about 1 then ran from the heat! about 96 and humid as all heck

Sunday went to go to the lake with a friends boat... OMC stringer drive.... you can see where this is going  tilt wouldn't work so we just on a friends boat and did a little tubing. Glad I wasn't driving because it was CRAZY!

Monday went out on the lake with the whole family. Was way too crowded with people who have never heard of right of way so we anchored and swam for the afternoon. All in all it was a great weekend... I just wish I would have remembered the sun screen!! OUCH!!!

Had a great weekend on Lake Catherine with the family and friends. Turns out that this small lake was a great getaway from the craziness of other lakes in Arkansas. We also found a nice sandbar which worked out great for the kids. Got to do some tubing and skiing and managed not to break anything. Overall a great weekend! Thanks to all that have and currently serve this great nation!

^Thanks all. This is from Lake Granby, Elevation 8,200', headwaters of the mighty Colorado River. Pretty, though Butt Cold.

+1 to giving thanks to all our service men and women, we are truly fortunate because of their service and sacrifice.

Left Saturday morning for Lake Santeelah with my newly working (for the first time in 3 years) Cobalt 200, my wife, and another couple. Camped at a water-only access campsite for two nights, and spent the majority of our time anchored out, getting sun and listening to music. Great weekend. No boat issues, thank God. Thanks to all the men and women who make weekends like this one a possibility for the rest of us.

Re: How did you spend your memorial day?

We started the weekend out on Friday night a little bit rough. The water was a bit low on the Allegheny River and I ended up hitting some rocks at low speed and messed up the prop bad. Then we spent the first half of Saturday driving around trying to find a prop for my OMC cobra. Ended up picking one up at West Marine.

The rest of the weekend was great. Spent Saturday evening on the 3 rivers then watched fireworks from the boat downtown. Took a break on Sunday and went to a cookout. Went back out on the water Monday and did some skiing and tubing.
