The model # plate is missing on this motor. The serial # on the freeze plug does not cross reference.

With that as a known, how different were the carbs on the various model years for this motor?

Can the carb be identified? Did e-rude use the same carb throughout the series?

I think any year carb can be used. I believe the diff are the low spped needle. the newer 67-68 up ( not sure on when they changed) use the flex cable needle, older ones use solid. Shouldn`t matter though. On `68 up they use a different lower unit seal kit.

I agree with what has been observed. The needle seat changed for 67-68, plus in 68 the gearcase changed slightly. You can see the difference in that through 1967 the "bullet" on the gearcase protrudes forward; 68-on they no longer protruded forward. Another thing to look for is the cowl latch; for 65-66 they used a little rectangular knob on the cowl to fasten the cowl, from 67 - 73 they used a little metal lever under the pan (no more knob on the cowl).

Well, I had a 66 model and it still had a flex cable for the low speed. The '64 and '65 had a twist lock on the cover, where as the 66 and newer have a pull down lever. That's all I can tell on these.

'64 & '65 used low speed adjusting linkage, '66 - '73 had cable (and a different low speed needle part number). I'm not aware of any significant jetting changes, so you can probably make any year work with a little rigging. I had a 1964 that I believe someone retrofitted with a '67 foot (which still had the protruding bullet). I ordered a seal kit thinking it was a '64 foot, and the prop shaft seals were too small. I reordered with the later model larger seals (same as even the '68 - '73) and they fit perfectly. So they must have gone to the larger prop shaft seal a year before they changed to the "newer" non-protruding bullet? Oh well... whatever is least convenient. That's the rule!
