I have a 1968 Starcraft with either a plexiglass or lexan windshield, I'm not sure which? Is there a special type of adhesive for plastic? I wanna install the rear-view for towing skiers and such. -Thanks -Lewis

Good stuff, I may end up getting one...but if I were to try to adhere my automotive rearview for grins...would I regret it?

they don't stay on cars, what makes you think it will stay on a boat.

Getting a suitable glue for plexiglass or lexan that will last is near impossible.

The top mount to the frame, a suction cup or mount it on the dashboard.

i had to glue a metal rail on my center panel plexiglass windshield last year. it was near impossible to find anything to adhere to plexiglass. but there is one thing. epoxy. i used marinetx flexset to glue this rail to my plexiglass. so far, it's held up one year w/o trouble.

if ya could find a clamp on type rearview, i'd go for it. but the epoxy i suppose could be a last alternitive..

Most auto part stores have bolt through mirrors.

Drill through plexi and your mount, use a backer plate on outside of glass.

wouldn't you want a convex mirror anyway?
boats bob up and down and skiers never stay just behind the boat.
sometimes they even pass the boat.
think i would try the frame mount first.
plastic windshields have a tough time not cracking anyway just alone.

I bought a peel and stick convex wide angle mirror at Autozone for my rail buggy's plexiglas windshield and it's been stuck right there for several years, no problems, easy and cheap! Good Luck!

They make rear view mirror adhesive (no I'm not kidding). Not sure if it's merely repackaged super glue or not, but you could look at that and see if lexan is one of the materials it's made for.

5200? Even if it white, might be longest lasting .

cheap, stick-on mirrors and replace as needed. I just have the 2" circle, enough to see large objects or blue lights behind me.
You can feel where the skiier is; confirm with a glance, but I would think twice about a large obstruction to your forward vision.

Gentlemen, When someone asks the question tomorrow...... "would you like dark meat or white meat?" will you wait 9 months to answer???? :p

Look at the date of the original question........ I will bet either the poster did it or gave up........ since the main boating season has gone dormant ;)

Happy Thanksgiving :)

That's funny Andy, really. :D

My lady could use both while cruising the ICW at 15kts and get ran over by somebody (like me) doing 25kts. I wish she had blinkers and a rear view mirror, and maybe a seeing-eye-dog.

Everything she has learned is from me! That scares me.
