I have a 1985 115hp o/b motor, It runs out great, but when you stop and bring the shifter back to neutral the motor will die. I just dont kno which card to start with. There are 3 lined up and down. Which one do I adjust to improve the idle? Top, middle or bottom. and which way do I turn the adjustment screw? counter clock wise or clockwise? Thanks If you can give me this answer before sunday morning that would be great. I hope to enjoy the 4th on the lake with the family. Happy boating Tim

Tim,

Each carb feeds 2 cylinders. They are seperate and independent. You'll have to adjust the mixture screw on each carb. Same as a car. Turn it in (clockwise) will lean it and turning out will richen.

Chris............

P.S. hope this is quick enough for you to enjoy 7/4.

i have 115 inline 6 cylinder and i did this...

turn all the mixture screws(x3) in till they stop, gently, then turn out 1 1/2 turns counter clockwise..... that seems t be the norm... also try a decarb. youll be amazed!!

when you ajjust those screws, its better to err on the side of being TOO RICH instead of too lean... lean = bad

And they should all end up about the same. If one needs to be set much different than the other two, then there's a problem with it (or the other two).

Like Phatman says, err on the rich side. You can lean those down and make the motor idle nice and smooth, but when you take off it'll die. They have to be set a good quarter turn richer than when you get what "sounds" to be the best idle setting. 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out should be well in the ballpark.

Now go out there and enjoy them fireworks!
