you are out of my area but down here we catch a lot on a ballon rig. Get a good chum slick going and float a 6-10 inch mullet or whiting about 2-4 foot onder a ballon back into the chum slick. when the fish hits the ballon will bust and you can fight the fish without any thing on your line. Its almost as much fun watching them come to the bait, fins out of the water and throwing a wake as it is to catch them.It may take a while for them to come in so be patient

The trick is smell, I thought I read somewhere they have terrible eyesight, so its not so much the presentation as it is the odor coming from it....We've caught several black tips all the way up to 6'6" from the beach in sarasota.... I tried this last time I was down there, but didnt have any luck.

I catch them pretty often in the Savannah bays. Basically I locate a pretty deep hole, put some chum out and drop some dead bait over the side. I usually catch 3-4 footers. The largest I caught was a six footer. Bad thing was it didn't hit my shark rig, it hit my light rig. I got it up next to the boat on 15 lb test on a medium action spinner. I think it took a look around and decided it didn't want anymore of me it buzzed on outta there. Pretty exciting.
