how do i check the timing in a 3.0 liter mercruiser?

can somone explain or steer me in the right direction , how do i time my engine, or check the timing? its a 181 c.i. 3.0. liter mercruiser 4cylinder engine. thanks

What ignition system do you have?

SN would also help if you have an EST distributor

EST or DDIS? Both are electronic

boat is a 2002, block is 1987, everything else is from 2002
