How do i find out the year of my Johnson motor?

I have a johnson 50HP motoe model # 50ESL72C, serial # E367021 is there any way to find out what year it is?

Hi Karen

It's a 1972 model a denoted by the "72" in the model number. The "ES" is Electric start, special model(No Frills). The "L" is for long shaft (20")..The "C" means nothing. It's the manufactuer model run letter.
