I have a 1996 sailfish 17'6" center console I just put on a 1999 Yamaha ox66 150 motor, I am running a 17 pitch prop stainless. At wot i get 45 at 5200. Now I am content with speed but i have to much bottom end power and my cruising speed is around 35 mph is at 4100-4300 rpm. shouldnt I be able to get 35mph at a lower rpm? it just feels like im straining the engine. Let me know. thanks!!

It appears to me you are right on.You want the motor to reach its operating rpm at wot. Your rpm may be a little low but I'm sure within rpm range.
If you have no venting(cavitation) You may want to raise the motor a hole or 2 (one at a time). This may add a couple of mph and rpm.
As far as your rpm at your cruising speed your right there.
The most ideal cxruising speed(economy)may be any where from just on plane to about 2,000 rpm higher.

i have a 1976 Renken CC 19' deep V with a 120 1989 Johnson, 15 pitch.. wot 5600 doing about 43MPH (GPS) and i cruise around 4500 doing about 33MPH.. so i think your number are about right... just like steelespike said you might wanna raise your motor a hole or two(one at the time) with any luck you might gain sone speed and rpms.. keep us update.. good luck

also find out whats the recomended manufact WOT range... i think you might be on the low side of it... a lower pitch will raise your rpms and get you closer to the high side, where you wanna be....
