how do I get the air out ot tnt cyl on 120 Hp E venrude 19888

Just put new orings in the tilt cyl cannot get it to go up or down. Seems like there is air in it. How do you purge the system?<br />Thanks,<br />Paul

basically,you fill the resevoir,and run the unit up and down,filling as needed.<br /><br />Have you retightened the manual release valve ?<br /><br />DHP

If you've filled the reservoir and re-tightened the manual release valve, in all probability there is an air lock in the oil pump. To correct, do as follows:<br /><br />Remove the reservoir fill screw. Apply a slight (SLIGHT) amount of pressurized air (about 7 to 10 psi) to the reservoir to force the PTT fluid into the oil pump area. That should do it.<br /><br />You'll most likely need to have a rag over the hole when applying the air to form a makeshift seal. (Works for me). Let us know how you make out.

It should be clear of any trapped air in 6-8 cycles.
