How do I get the carb off

I just aquired a 7.5hp Ted Williams serial#65600711 11112 Model #574.60121 I cannot get to 2 of the carb screws to get it off. Whats the trick, and can anyone tell me what year this is?

Looks like a 1965. You'll need to pull the powerhead off to get to the carb. It's really not difficult, just undo the linkages that are in the way and wrestle the screws out that hold it down.

Also look in the following thread for a link to EBSCO Publishing Service and follow it to the McCullough 7.5 Service Manual (that motor was made by McCullough for Sears)
