I'd call E.T. n I'm sure he can get that thing to fly. Kids will enjoy him!

I couldn't see the picture but the standard answer here on I-boats is YOU'VE GOT TO BUY THE MANUAL. :) :D :D

No matter how hard I yank the rope, the dang thing just won't start! Could it be flooded?
JT.. the way it looks to me is that you broke the recoil spring on the rope-start.. I see you put your wieght into it.. you pulled so hard that you thrust your back against the seat-back and pulled the hinge screws entirely out.

easy fix! :D

If a carb rebuild won't fix it than a can of Seafoam will.

the smashmatic relief valve is either missing or never installed, in case of this, purchase distonary of french & greek expletives, followed by book on "how to blame wife and still have the kids love you". always try to put trolling motor in more than 2" of water, it needs to cool itself,at least the kids will have fun...enjoy

Probably the oldest(smartest) catfish in that river is holding your prop. Try some catfood to lure him up and then club it on the head. And don't take any lip from him!

Oh come on people. With all the expertise and knowledge on this forum I can't believe you haven't figured out this simple problem. Its an electric start model and not a pull start. Can't you see the console and controls ? :D :D
My confidence in the extent of expertise here is now shaken.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Just Kidding Of Course :D :D :D I have full and complete confidence in the members here but I still think the starting problem is that it is an electric start model.

I bet they used a non-marine trolling motor and wired it with crimp-only connections. It probably wasn't properly winterized either. :)

-JustMrWill

Re: How do I get this trolling motor started?

thanks all for the input but still no luck.

Note to RodC: right, it is electric start, but the stupid battery is dead. Went dead after only one day of use! Stupid thing was full of water. I've been trying to pull-start it ever since.

Note to bunnybonker: I never considered that possibility, the guy sold it to me said it was a trolling motor. Nothing on the Kenwood site about pull-starting their mixers. Maybe their help-desk will call back before the weekend.

Should this be in the Electronics forum or the Repairs forum? There's not a Repair forum for Kenwood so I guess in the "Other"?

thanks,
