I'm new to the forum, and sure yall have discussed it before, but can someone send me a link, or give info on how to install a tell tail on my 125 force? I'm also unsure wher my thermostat is. haven't had boat on the water yet. thanx

Ah, well, while I don't believe a tell-tale is necessary or even useful, Everyone has their own opinion and wants. The second sticky post from the top of this forum entitled "Can I install a tell-tale on my Force?" will discuss it.

Simple--The threaded sending unit screws in the top of the head, just remove the stainless plug (easier said than done) or drill and tap another hole close by (1/16 NPT). Use the orange wire on the sender instead of on the overheat indicator. If you want to keep the overheat indicator, then just run a separate wire from the temp sensor to the gauge.

On your engine, Purple is reserved for tachometer. If you do not have a tach and do not intend to buy one (foolish in my opinion) then disconnect the purple from the rectifier and use it rather than running a separate wire forward.

All other instructions come with the gauge and are self explanatory.

One note on the temp gauge. The thermostats in the Force engines are either 130 or 143 degrees, depending on the year. If you get a regular analog gauge that starts at 120 degrees, then you'll hardly see any movement in the needle. A gauge that starts at 100 degrees gives a better reading. The highest reading that I've seen on my gauge is about 150 degrees. That was right after I made a long run and shut the motor off. Water stopped circulating and temp. climbed. I've seen some digital gauges that start out at 0 and 70 degrees, but they're a little pricey.

Wow. You guys must have read my mind. I'm replacing all my gauges and am considering adding a temp gauge. Now that my question about how to do it has been answered, Ill ask another: Do you think a temp gauge is a worthwhile addition? (Sorry for the minor hijack.)
