what we do when tying to a log boom overnight is,take a 3 ft piece of rope, tie a 6lb downrigger weight to the bottom eye of the fender,set the fender hight so it is slightly under water,tie up, no worries, the fender will stay straight up and down. or adjust the hight for your particular situation
