Would like to post pics of my engine and can't figure out how. I didn't see anything under FAQ's. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

When you are replying or creating a post scroll down and you will see a button that says 'manage attachments'. you can attach a jpg that way. Must it must be under 97kb.

When in new thread or post reply, find and click on manage attachment (additional options), click in browse to select the pic then click on upload.

you can up load to a free service like photobucket.com then you choose the pictures you want( clik the little box at the bottom left of the picture) scrool to the bottom of the page, clik generate html, it will take you to the next page, scroll down to thumb nails clik on that and copy, then insert it into your post.

also if you are planing on posting pictures, you can use the Blue post reply or the go advanced, manage attachments, there you can upload , directly from your computer. besure you pictures have been resized to fit the format.

The advantage of using Photobucket is that you can post decent sized photos** rather that the squitty little things the attachments allow.

BTW the use of attachments is covered in the FAQs

** Like this
(TD describes the method of posting clickable thumbnails. A good idea if you have several pictures to post)

Re: How do I post pictures?

Vic, but one problem with photobucket is the pic has to be the right size, your pic, just caused the thread to become wide. now readers have to scan left and right to read the thread. most members do not like this, and skip over the complete thread.

Please resize your picture, and edit your post.

Re: How do I post pictures?

Yes that can be true but my screen resolution is 1280x 1024 so it still fits without having to scroll. (The picture was uploaded at 1024 x 768 ) Normally to use a picture I had uploaded at that size I would do it as a clickable thumbnail but on this occasion did not do that quite deliberately to illustate the point about getting nice big pictures. Also serves to illustrate the point you make!

The other solution, if the picture is destined for use on a forum is to restrict the size to 640 x 480 using Photobuckets uploading options.

Surely though more and more people are using larger screens these days and not still peering at old 12" monitors.

But to please you here it is as a clickable thumbnail

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

BTW have you noticed that sometime fairly recently Photobucket have included the option to use code for clickable thumbnails on the main alubum page. Go to "link options" to enable it if you have not. You still have to use the method you describe to use more than one picture but it saves a few clicks if you are only using one.

I did this. Did the photobucket thing, 'cuz they are too big downloading directly from my computer. So, put my pix on photobucket, saved them, gave them their own url, went to manage attachments, entered the url, error message: Invalid file What gives?

Absolute proof that stickys are not visible.

LOL
I had a similar thought. I know there are a couple in Dockside chat.
Newbies may not know they are there though.
Perhaps Forum Rules & Guidelines could/should be expanded to include Forum operational stickys (etc.). Just a thought.
