I've got an '89 invader I/O w/ the mercruiser Alpha 1.

I need to remove the Sterndrive and took the nuts off the anchor pin and removed the bushings. But, the anchor pin is still in the way of moving the power trim cylinders out of the way.

See the pic at:

http://www.mercstuff.com/alpharemoval.htm

to see what I'm talking about. I'm talking about "a" in the diagram. How do I remove the anchor pin so I can move the power trim cylinders out of the way?

Thanks!

If you loosen the cylinders at the transom you should be able to swing them out enough to get them off. Also, you should be able to move that pin one way or the other to get them off.

Marc,

The problem is that that pin won't budge... I put a piece of wood over it and then banged on it w/ a hammer. Should I just leave the pin and remove the cylinders at the transom??

You should only have to loosen them to get the other ends off.....JK

If you just remove the transom end you will also have to disconnect the hoses.
If you do remove the transom end that may allow you to remove them from the drive.

If you remove all 4 nuts you will have plenty of room to get the cylinders out of the way.Charlie
