I'm considering the purchase of a project boat with a 260 Mercruiser. It's been sitting unused for the past 3 years so I KNOW the gas that's in the 80 gallon tank is bad.
I'll only buy if I can test-run it, so what's the best way to hookup a temporary fuel supply? I'd like to rig a 5 gallon can- that should supply enough gas to get her up to operating temp. Can I simply pull the suction line off the tank and stick it in the can??? I plan to run the engine by backing the boat into the water attached to the trailer at the ramp.
