how do I start my outboard

This seems really silly to me, but I am used to cranking outbourds. This 7.5 merc has a crank starter and battery cables coming out of it as well. <br /><br />Here's my question...<br /><br />+do I just connect this to a battery and say some magic words? <br />+Is there a button somewhere?<br />+Is there an added piece of hardware I need to buy?<br />+Should I say 'to hell with it.' and just crank her up? (would like to get elec start if possible)<br />+should I raise the sails and dump the motor over? <br /><br />My OB looks like this http://www.smalloutboards.com/m9879el.htm but is a 7.5 <br /><br />Someone help me before I hang myself by the main halyard.

there shoud be a starter button near the sfift lever, before you buy a new bettery hook thr wires up to see if the starter works I don't think they are available any more, so don't waste the money if the starter is broken
