how do I tell if I have an electric shift???

Hello........I was just curious because thee seems to be a lot of threads lately involving problems with electric shifts, and I have no idea what mine even is. What is the difference????.for the record my motor is a 1977 70hp evinrude.<br /><br /><br />p.s. sorry for the stupid question, I was just curious and I am the only person I know who has a boat, so I have no one to help me with the "obvious" info..8>)

Hey sprouticus...yours is a mecanical shift. The last electric shifts were made in 72'. Electric shifts only had one control cable for the throttle.<br /><br />And you know a lot of people with boats....just look at the guys here on the forums....
