How do you get water out of bilge?

Im a new boater and have a 23' Seaswirl, noticed samll [2-3"] water in the bilge, bilge pump requires more before it will suck it up, [ I think????] Any ideas on getting this water out? Will it harm anything etc. It came from washing the boat down inside and out etc, no leaks in hull!!

A. Wash it longer and the bilge pump will work. Sorry I had to... <br /><br />B. You may try lifting the trailer tongue and let gravity move the water towards the bilge pickup.<br /><br />C. Reposition bilge pump<br /><br />D. Use small hand pump style/siphon hose to suck water out<br /><br />I'm never a fan of water staying in boat. If left over time it could start to rot any wood and possibly mildew. <br /><br />Good Luck

You can get the last off the water you can't pump out with a sponge.

i use a wet dry vac to suck up the last bit of water at the end of the day......

Bilges are supposed to have water in them <br /><br />Don't worry about it. Mine always has an inch or two left in the bottom that the pumps can't get out and the world has not come to and end yet.

Is this boat in a slip? Trailer? Maybe I missed something, but if it is on the trailer why not simply pull the plug and jack it up?

Sponge and bucket.<br /><br />If the bilge doesn't ship water normally, this is a one-time job.<br /><br />What's the big problem?
