How do you know your tach is accurate??

Is there anyway to tell if your tach is accurate? Curious to know if I'm really turning the rpm's that it says can it be tested?

If you can get your hands on a handheld you can compare readings.

I am interested in finding out if my tach is accurate or not also.What do you mean by hand held?I'm guessing you talking about what other have refered to as [Shop tachs]?
