Re: how do you like your alum boat?

I am on my 10th tin boat in about 45 years of boating. Had wood and glass boats also. I have to tinnies right now...1950s Arkansas Traveler(15 footer) which I have almost restored to fishing condition and a 1996 Duro Boat(15 footer). I have my eye on a 17 foot custom(home made) deep V at this time. Each type of material has its own virtues and faults...beauty is in the eye of the beholder.:D

ive noticed that the majority of you guys have a 16 or 17 footer. i was figuring i needed at least an 18 just to have enough room. now this may be due to my current boat is 15 ft bow rider. but the last 3 ft is all engine and i cant hardly move around.

yourkiddin, I just traded up from a 16' to an 18'. I tell you, that boat is bigger in every way. Longer (obviously) wider, and deeper. Looking forward to seeing how it rides. And I LOVE my aluminum boats because you just don't have to be as careful with them as you do glass boats. And if you scratch them, they can be easily touched up.

This was one of the major reasons we went with a tinny and an outboard... more interior room. We needed space for us and one or both of our golden retrievers. Not only is there more space, but the freeboard is higher, too. Just a thought. -Ken
