Hi,

I have a 22 foot Sunrunner with a 5.7litre V8 Mercruiser motor with Alpha one outdrive. I would like to order a new prop and use the current one as a spare. I do not know what is on there now as far as pitch. Is there a way to determine what pitch I need for that motor?

Thanks,

Adam

On iboats' dedicated prop site props.net we have quite a bit of info on helping you to determine the right prop for your boat. Click here to check out the info. It is still a part of iboats.

The only way to get the same diameter and pitch prop, is to get the dimensions or part number off of it.

Before you spend your money, are you sure you have the correct prop on the boat now?

You should be reaching 4400-4800 rpm at full throttle, if you have the right prop.

Click - Why rpm are important

Click - Prop Basics

Click - RPM Test

If you click the links on the left of the pages, you will have mofe fun reading about props.

Edit: See what happens when you open too many windows at once, someone else answers the post before you get to. Drats.

.
.

Adam, Go to mercurymarine.com then to props. They have a very good guide for selecting a prop. Fill in all the fields you can and they will list at least 2 or 3 props for your application.

adam - Take your current prop to any prop shop & tell them the rpm at WOT. They can tell you what you have and recommend a new one to fit your needs.
