I did a search first and could not find my answer...so I am separating my boat and the upper portion overlap is sealed with silicone...I plan to carefully cut the silicone away from the hull being careful not to scratch the hull surface...is there a chemical that I can use that will release the silicone that is stuck to the hull making clean up easier?

Get a pinstripe removal wheel. They work wonders. NAPA sells one, but you are MUCH better off ordering off the net. Somewhere in my restore thread I mention the one I used.. cost about $18 shipped. It is pretty much a giant pencil eraser you put on your drill.

Yep it's called caulking remover. You can get it at any home improvement store around the caulking supplies. I use it when I re-silicone my showers. Looks like a tube of Elmers glue. Run the bead over the silicone and wait several hours. It can remove the color from certain surfaces so you'd want to test a spot.

http://www.marineformula.com/uses.htm I've never used this but have used a 3m product. There should also be something available at Home Depot.

Thank you all for the quick replies...they are all great suggestions...I have thought about using the pinstripe eraser but like the ideal of the spray for faster results, that is if I can find the stuff.

iboats is a great resource!

Thanks
