How do you remove the throttle lever

I am refurbing my Lund and need to remove the throttle lever so I can replace and recover the side panel. I tried pulling off the lock "button" in the center of the lever but it doesn't appear there are any screws or anything inside to remove. I am a little nervous to start prying around for fear of breaking something.

It's a 1990 Merc 115. Any advice is appreciated.

I am not familar with your control, but have worked on some in the past. Look for an allen wrench on the bottom of the throttle arm. Look for the black pebblegrain insert around the throttle lever to pop off. Also, normally you can replace the PTT switch pretty easy. Look for how that front top of the throttle arm comes off.

The set-screw is #19 in the diagram...

Re: How do you remove the throttle lever

I just rebuilt my control (1991). See my thread Mercury Quicksilver Control Repair in Boat topics and questions. It was surprisingly easy. You will also find a link there to my control (somewhat different than yours) and you can hunt around for your control there. But there is enough info posted from Chris1956 and Chinewalker for you to get it off.

I finally got a bit of time today to work on the boat. Thanks for the tips. It popped right off after loosening the set screw from the bottom (#16 in above diag).
