How do you set a new lower angle on power T and T?

1990 Evinrude 70hp VRO mounted on my old ( new to me) pontoon. Tilt and trim works great. I want to set it to a lower angle in the down position. I know the bottom stop rods have to go down but how?

Move the tilt pin to the lowest hole. If you want more negative trim than that you will need wedges.

Tilt pin is down low. Aren't these pins holding it back?

Those "pins" are the trim hydraulic cylinders, not stop rods. Right now in the pic, they are fully extended as the first part of tilting the motor. They retract as the motor comes off of tilt to the trimmed position.

Curious - Why to you want to go negative with the trim? Or isn't the trim working correctly?

When the cylinder comes down the motor stops at those pins. Leaves me about 15-20 degrees positive. Are you saying there is also some trim controls I did not see? This is new to me since normally I am in older stuff. That's why I am here.

When it comes down on those trim rams it slows down.-----It should keep moving and pull those rams in.----Had someone confused by these things 25 years ago too.

When you're lowering the motor, you can hear the motor whine at a certain pitch while the main tilt is dropping, then slow down somewhat when the trim rams (shown in your photo) are retracting very slowly. When the two trim rams bottom, you will hear the motor slow down again - this is minimum trim.
