how does motorguide 70b 24v cable connect with the steering Rack gear? I think mine is broken, please HELP!
Motorguide pro series 70 pounds thrust (foot controlled) - 24 volts

Serial # 95010270 with 52" shaft - a big motor
foot control model # - MLP300652

I bought it used and found out too much spin in the motor when in water. I opened it up and noticed the cable and the steering Rack gear is separated. I tried to stick it back but I think there should be something to lock the cable with the steering rack gear. It may be broken by previous owner because the stainless steel shaft was bent badly. Maybe it broke the cable from the steering rack gear.

Is there a screw to hold the 2 pieces together? Thanks

I cannot see from the picture below.

FIXED by driving a 1" drywall screw to hold the cable with the steering rack gear. Let's see if the TM will go crazy again. This should stop the cable from coming loose and prevent the lower shaft and prop from spinning on its own will. REDNECK WAY! YES!! Saved $600 for a brand new 70lbs TM. I am just going to use angle grinder to cut off the screw head so that the screw is flush with the steering rack. Hope this helps those who have the same problem with their TM!!!

1 of the 4 pins on the switch assembly control is broken. Does it control the speed or just the momentary movement which I really don't use anyway.

Please HELP!! Thanks.

Switch assembly rotary - this is the stock picture that I may need to buy.

Generally when the switch terminal breaks off, its better to replace the switch than to goof around trying to fix it.

I finally disassembled it. Was looking around for a video to see how to disassemble it but didn't find any. So, I posted this to help others. Watch in part 3 to see how I fix it without buying a new Rotary switch part.

So, my redneck fix by drying 1" drywall screw to pinch the steering cable into the steering rack failed. The fragile aluminum cable broke at the point where it was pinched in the hole of the steering rack. So, making it a wireless radio controlled TM. I also found out my failed attempt may be caused by the bent inner shaft. So, I was able to break free and loosen the set screw in the pinion nut. But, the pinion nut is screwed (i think) onto the inner shaft that is connected to the motor on the other end. The only way to straighten it is to slide off the motorhead cover and the outer shaft. But, the pinion nut is stuck. I tried applying PB penetrating oil but it just would not budge. Please help. Do I need to heat it?
