1994 Larson LXi, in pretty good condition. Mercruiser engine. I got in and jumped up and down and the floor was solid as far as I could tell. It didn't move at all. Cosmetically it looks good. Needs a little wash down and the vinyl on the back seats is ripped. But that can be covered until the season is over and the vinyl replaced.

Comes with a trailer, Bimini top, bow cover and boat cover for $6995.

Sound good or should I keep looking?

Sorry yes. Volvo Penta duo prop.

I thought the price sounded a bit steep but its a consigned boat so they're selling it for someone else. I'll see what I can do with the price.

Any other boats on their page look like they might be worth looking into?

Re: How does this deal sound

For such a large forum I figured I'd get more responses! :)

Taking it out tomorrow for a water test with the salesman. I poked around for a long time today and couldn't find any soft spots or rot or mold. Even the ski locker looks brand new. Not even dirt you would expect from a 94. He said the cover was put on almost every time the boat was not in use and I believe it. There isn't even mildew on the Bimini top.

The back seats look like they would be easy to repair or even replicate myself with some good ply and vinyl tacked down. All in all the boat looks very clean and maintained.

I think I might make an offer tomorrow if the water test goes well. They even offered 30% off of winter storage for any used boat they sell with free pick up, winterization and drop off.

Can anyone think of anything else I should check? Ive poked around quite a bit and followed a lot of the websites that explain how to check used boats but I'm open to any suggestions. I don't want to make a $5-$6k mistake.

Thanks in advance.

Re: How does this deal sound

Really? When I put it through NADA it came out to $5300. Could it be because of the options or something? In any case my loan officer won't let me pay any more than its worth so I'm assuming he'll take care of all of that. Thank you for looking it up. I think I might run it through myself again to be sure.

That boat looks immaculate. If the price seems fair based on what else you're seeing for sale in your area, go for it!

Thanks ez. It really seems like a good solid boat and looks like it was taken care of. Gonna make an offer tomorrow once I have the water test.

Re: How does this deal sound

I made an offer below what I was willing to pay, and the owner came back with the figure I wanted. Done deal. Well, almost. I insisted on a sale commensurate upon a water test. That's happening tomorrow morning.

So there's my next question. What do I look for? Obviously listening to the engine for any problems, etc. Are there any tips or tricks I should be doing to check it out while I have it on the water? Need some good advice here. I don't expect any problems, but I want to be prepared.

I'll also be doing a lot of googling. Thanks in advance for any help.

Run it through the full throttle range and see what the tach says when you run it at WOT. Take it through it's paces and test/check everything. Make sure the bilge pump, blower, all electrical items, lights... the list is pretty long. Just make sure you are happy with it and everything it's supposed do does.
