How Easy is it to add a foot pedal?

I was wondering if anyone has taking there generic hand throttle and make it into a foot petal? I see you can buy one at like gander mountain, but how hard is that task? I would like to do it because my engine take a couple minutes to warm up and I just can;t seem to locate my high idle switch anywhere. Anyways and suggestions or comments would be lovely ;-P

what are ya working on? theres usually a way to put it in throttle only condition.....

Hi thanks for the reply, I have been trying to figure this out.....I will take some pictures of my throttle when I get home.....but for now I do not see a buttone or lever to change to throttle only configuration.....

from the other questions you have asked, i think you really need a owners and service manual. or an experienced boater to accompany you.

the foot pedal is called a hot foot. for pleasure boat of fishing boat, they are horrible. most who install them, end up going back to the original setup.

Thanks for the help. I am not new to operating a boat, just new to the details of a boat because where I operated friends boat, I did not have to worry about the things I am curious about. But I am new to owning a boat But I just love this forum!
