Anyone know how fast a 50hp evinrude lark should move my 24ft pontoon?Best i can get is 10mph according to gps

Is that motor an old "Fat 50"? They were pretty doggy motors, but it should push it faster than 10mph. I have a 20' pontoon with a 1957 lark 35hp and it pushes it 19mph.

I believe its 13 1/4 or 13 1/2 x 17 cant read the markings to well worn quite a bit

17 pitch is way to high you should try a 13 pitch, and check your wot rpm. What year and model is your motor?

The motor is a 71 50hp electric shift, i will tell you the motor runs perfect and shifts perfect,i took a 25hp evinrude off the boat and put the 50hp on for a little more speed but believe it or not the 25hp went about 14mph,i was dissapointed when i found out how fast the 50hp was going

You say it runs perfect, but is it really? They will run pretty darn sweet on one cylinder, but have no power.

You know i never did do a compression check because it did run so good Maybe i should,both plugs are firing as they should.When i first put the motor on, it throttled up quickly and had a ton of power but now that you mention it when i took it out today it seemed to run just as good but a lot less power,i did notice when i first went to speed up the lever wouldnt move so i shut it off and restarted it. The throttle moved as it should,but with hardly and top end power

Those 2 clyinder looper Larks weren't bad perfromers - seems like it should definately do better than 10mph.

Are you actually getting full throttle at the carbs? Check to see if the butterflies are horizontal.
