How fast should trim work? - '79 150

I have a '79 Mercury 150 horse V6. It has the Presolite(?) round-motor tilt/trim pump.

Just for a basic idea of how it is working, how fast should the tilt/trim system work? Or, about how long should it take for the motor to move from one extreme of its travel to the other? Fully up to fully down? Fully down to fully up?

He's talking about an engine,(150) not a motor (50)

If it will trim out under power, it's probably fine. I suspect it would take 10 - 20 seconds from trimmed in to tilt up.

This is the info I was needing. It will trim while underway, but slowly.

For tilt, mine takes a couple of minutes to move from one extreme to the other. It also goes faster going up than it does going down.

Especially when going down, I have to stop after about 20 seconds, and let the pump motor cool for about 20 seconds, or it will overheat and stop completely for a while. Not so bad going up, since that's faster.

Looks like I need to look for a rebuild kit for the pump. Hate to have to buy one for a boat this old.
