not knowing the weight of the boat, i assume it's the one in the avatar. 25 to 40 mph. iknow it's a wide range, but little go on.

That depends on the weight of the boat, equipment, fuel and # of people. I have a 17 ft fiberglass that weighs 900 lbs + 300lbs for the motor and 500 lbs for people and equipment, I get about 40 mph with a 19 in prop

What's most important is that you get the prop pitch right. Prop it to make 5200-5500 at wide open. (cruise it at 4200)

Whatever you get for speed - you get - but you gotta get the RPM's right or you can cook the pistons.

My Aus built savage escort 5.0m hull with merc 150hp blueband gets up to 65kph. My mach says it could go faster if it would plain properly.If you show us a side
on photo I can look in a book I have on some of the aus top 100 classic boats

From your photo it is clear that your boat is the same as mine. A 16ft Hartley.
The total weight of my boat including two 60hp motors is 700 kg (sorry from South Africa not too clued up on pounds etc) Mine however is a walkaround with a centre console. Don't know how much cabin weighs. These are notoriously heavy boats due to the wall thicknesses of the hull. They are however as stable as can be out at sea.

Your boat was not in the book I have. My old donk isnt in there either. I found out what type of boat I have in the trailerboat magazine.
