how fast will my boat go?

I just purchased a 1974 starcraft holiday 18' with a 1977 70hp evinrude and was wondering how fast should it go?It has a planing kit. I plan on putting a 115 to a 140 hp on down the road- how fast would it go with a 115hp?

At present, somewhere between 30-35 MPH. With the 115, 40 MPH +.

30-35? really? I figured less being its such a well built boat - its without a doubt beefy built!

However fast it goes, it probably will never be fast enough. That's been my experience.

Well I took it out and it did do to bad I guess - I discovered the aluminum hull has some leaks at the stern .--thanks for your help
