What type of boat? (length, width, weight, design).

That motor will push a barge at 3mph and a bathtub at 100mph!

How fast it will go is all based upon the weight and design of the boat it is mounted on. As well as the gear ratio of the lower unit and prop pitch among other things.

Re: how fast?

I have found over the years the speed I get is about 5 or 10 mph slower than what my buddies claim they get with the same rig;) As trendsetter says more info is needed. On average if that motor is on a boat designed for it you are in the 30-45 mph range depending on actual boat design, weight, etc.

Regardless of how fast it goes nothing look cooler or sounds better than one of those tall guys on the back of a boat even though it is gray not black.

well it on the back of a 1980 Hustler boat, more less a older bass boat. the length is 17 ft. and I have no idea what boat weight is completly packed out, with two adults , two kids, tank full of gas, a cooler full and rod and tackle.

On that boat it should run in the low 40s. Make sure the prop let's her rev up to 5500RPM.
