Find someone with a crappy old teleflex rack steering on craigs list apparently it's kind of hard because the last 2 people I've talked to are either spammers or do not have the actual product lest I know there is multiple salvage yards in the sticky, please I know, but anyone in the destin area panama city area, that have the teleflex rack and pinion steering system let me know... but my question is... if the original is 8 feet, what kind of clearance, would I have with say a 12 footer... how difficult would it be to route that in place of the 8 footer? although it started with a statement I am ultimately asking a question... what would be the clearance and when I say clearance, I mean would a 12 footer work in place of an 8 footer, if I can keep the bends minimal? I have a good amount of room relatively speaking... thanks guys, y'all have kept my boat running since I bought it a couple years ago thanks again iboats ! :)

Do you really want crappy old steering on your boat?

There are places that you can skimp on a boat but steering isn't one of them, just checked iboats store and for the correct part brand new is $150, not cheap but certainly worth not getting stranded, http://www.iboats.com/Rack-Package-...3804960--**********.518762934--view_id.169472

You can probably get a 12' to work, a few gentle bends won't kill you.

Why do you want to reengineer a system that already works?

Sorry, gave one away w/ a 9' cable last week

whats wrong with the one you have? you can replace the cable for $100, or the whole system for $125

I think a 12' cable will be almost impossible to route

Im sorry I should have clarified, mine was damn near frozen by the end of last season, and this season when I pulled the cover it was completely frozen, my fault I know, its a glastron gt 150 1974 and I like havin it out with the super nice boats here in destin,fl and leavin them in my wake... I plan on selling this boat later this year so im kinda lookin for a quick n cheap fix, I will let the new owner, whomever it is, know that its a used cable but for now I just wanna get it back on the water, motor runs like a top and ive got a full tank of gas in it (sweet!), just wanna run this puppy a bit before I let er go...
