How hard to change prop shaft

How hard is it to change prop shaft in late 70's to early 80's 90hp mercury?

not familer with those 90s, but every outboard I have taken down is very simple to get the prop shaft out. <br />Take off prop. take off spanner nut, slide shaft out. that simple. if you dont have a spanner to fit, be careful if you use anything else to loosen the spanner. the hole bottoms are very shallow if you indent them they act like a lock and ruin the spanner nut.

is this a "big foot gearcase" or a standard 4 cyl case? if the carrier is retained by a large internal spanner nut its standard. if the carrier is held in with two bolts its the big foot. here in the salt pond I dont even attempt to remove the spanner nut I just drill some holes in them and crack them out.<br /> its faster.<br /> good luck and keep posting
