How hard to rebuild the fuel pump??

I have a 75 Mercury 500 I have the manual but it doesn't go into great depth on how to rebuild it. I have the rebuild kit and all..just wondering how hard is it going to be any idea??? thanks Erik

I hate those older manuals myself,but they are the best for their time.<br /><br />Just remember the sequence of gaskets/diaphrams as well as which way the check valves face.Best bet do the whole job,don't leave it apart and go back to it later.<br /><br />DHP

If it helps you , take a digital camera shot of each stage of your disassemmbly then you'll have a record of what fits where.

its extremely simple. <br /><br />its like 3 pieces. take the old one off, look inside and youll see what i mean.
