The sister I never wanted was bartending in a local Cafe/Lounge. There was the usuall crowd mostly eating lunch and a couple of people just having drinks. My sisters dear old dad (retired 22yrs Army then 20 yrs with the state was about 70 at the time) and the rest of us were just discussing life in general. When this old guy came in and ordered a beer. The he started complaining that it was a "B"ch getting old with all the aches and pains etc. Dear old dad looked over and said I hear tou mister,but it sure Beats the Alternative! Now shut up and drink your beer! There was a second of silence then everyone broke out in a laugh! Including the guy complaining

Its funny, older people laugh at us 30somethings when we talk about feeling old, but a 30something nowadays has had as much life experience as people much older. I'll take myself for example. I have been married, divorced, bankrupt, have traveled the world, had money, had nothing, have an 11 year old girl, had 14 vehicles, back hurts, knees hurt, bad vision, getting wrinkles, receding hairline, gray hairs have started popping, and much much more. Once you get to this level, being 20 years older just means you have been through the same stuff but have had two more decades to complain about it. A 30 something nowadays has lived more than a 30something has 30 years ago, and I have the bad back to prove it ...

The youngster has a point - the bar keeps on getting raised. Seems like no matter how old I get, I'm no closer to the end of my expected lifespan (I exagerate, but only a little).
