How long do you try before you give up?

So when your our Fishing, or whatever reason you anchored,


If you get hung, how long do you try to free your anchor before you give up?

Ive found me a new fishing spot, that every time I go out, my anchor gets hung, after usually 15 mins of working it, I free mine.... and pull up another anchor or two left behind. Which I've been giving away on my local fishing forum haha.

Depends on how expensive your anchor is and how new I guess... Question if you keep getting it stuck why not put a second line on the opposite end of the anchor so you can pull it back up the same way it went in?

personally the times that I've gotten one hung and WORKED it forever, often using more throttle than I should it has always just magically popped loose when I give that one last tug by hand just before cutting the rope.... Once nearly 20 years ago after a frustrating long attempt to free it I drug what turned out to be a 50' log from about 30' down into the shallows with my boat and then jumped in only to find that the anchor had dropped free when I stopped

I can catch fish without anchoring.

release rope, slip anchor or use a wreck anchor there--they are made for getting stuck.

could you get away with a mushroom?

My only worry with a wreck anchor, because our entire bay is mud bottom except for spots like this, is how long it might take to get hooked, because Im fishing 30-40 feet from a bridge, which the current is usually going toward, there's no way I could use a mushroom

trolling motor with gps and "virtual anchor" .... pricey but NICE

Then carry both. I carry a wreck anchor and a danforth
