How long to see water from tell-tale?

1997 Evinrude 40 hp, I was wondering if water should come out right away after starting engine.....takes about 7-8 seconds for water to come out from tell-tale but then seems to pump out well! Is this normal? Thanks for any input?

Sounds normal to me. Mine does about the same.

Water has to get from the pump up to the power head and the tell tail. It has quite a bit to fill up to that point. Normal in my opinion.

Cool sounds normal then! My overheat warning is not working currently so i'm being overly cautious untell I get my temp guage hooked up...... Thanks for the help!
