How long?

Hi everybody!I just discovered a coolant leak from the water pump housing of my 86 Mercruiser170 3.7 l engine.I read all the threads on that typical for those engines problem,but what I realy want to know is how long will it take before the situation becomes worse and the coolant starts to contaminate the engine oil?In other words can I put some 50 hours on the engine before I have to repair it accordingly?Thank you!

Run it till it damages something and then let us know... or just fix it and stop worrying about it.

You are perfectly right,but I don`t have the time right now and parts are not available in my country so I have to order them from US.And my holidays started the other day.Isn` t that pity?

It's Probably Already Started................

and parts are not available in my country so I have to order them from US.

And I doubt finding a Good Running Replacement motor will be any easier..........
That motor has been Out of Production for nearly 20 Years.........
They Never were very Common,+ are getting Quite Scarce...........Good Running 1s that is......

You need to fix the boat. Sorry about the vacation.
