Do I have between sanding the old paint to bare aluminum and hitting it with the primer? It's been about 2 weeks and will probably go to a third. Do I just hit it with a little scotchbrite before primer if it has sat too long. Seems i read somewhere to not wait too long between these to processes.

On alot of paints you can't wait long between the primer and base coat.

Re: how long?

The recommended time between removing the oxidation layer (sanding) on aluminum and hitting it with primer is about 20 to 30 MINUTES. As we all know, this however is not really practical in the real world, so do as Woodonglass said. Just make sure everything is set-up ready and waiting before you start the scotch brite
